Mont-Joli, October 2, 2005 - On October 1st 2005 was held the first of two public consultations organized by the Centre de santé et services sociaux de la Mitis. This consultation was done in the context of the Community Health and Social Services network project titled “Improving first-line services for the elderly English-speaking population of Metis-sur-Mer”.
The purpose of this consultation was to validate the results of a survey that was conducted during the summer season. The results gathered through this exercise indicated a high level of satisfaction regarding the delivery of health care, a broad understanding of the services offered and a need for greater collaboration between the health and social services and the community groups of the English-speaking community. Being held at the community centre on Beach road in Métis-sur-Mer, the meeting reunited over 65 community members for an evening of discussions and information. The input received at this meeting will be used to formulate recommendations of action that will be prioritized by the community members during the second consultation to be held on November 12th 2005 at the Metis community centre.
The project “Improving front line services for the elderly English-speaking population of Metis-sur-Mer” is an initiative of the CHSSN through its program “Access to primary health care for English-speaking persons”.
