QUEBEC CITY/CNW Telbec/ - The excitement was palpable on June 21, at the Capitole de Québec where the Québec Entrepreneurship Contest's Provincial and International Grand Prize Gala was in full swing. Welcomed by Honorary President Isabelle Courville, President of Bell Canada's Enterprise Group, and with Québec Premier Jean Charest in attendance, invited guests, dignitaries, finalists and partners had the opportunity to congratulate nearly 400 prize winners who shared 64 prizes totalling $300 000 in award money.
Ms. Courville and Mr. Charest were surrounded by numerous public figures, including Raymond Bachand, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, Lawrence S. Bergman, Minister of Revenue, Laurent Lessard, Minister of Labour, Carole Théberge, Minister of Families, Seniors and the Status of Women, Lise Thériault, Minister of Immigration and Cultural Communities, and Yvan Bordeleau, Parliamentary Assistant representing the Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports In addition, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, the Mouvement des caisses Desjardins and the Chambre des notaires du Québec came together with all the other sponsoring partners for the awarding of the provincial grand prizes.
The Honorary President was quick to point out that she was "happy to participate in the promotion and development of a new generation of entrepreneurs." The Contest, she said, "fosters the values of creativity, leadership, dynamism and innovation in both its divisions, Student Entrepreneurship and Business Creation. The diversity and quality of the candidates amply demonstrates the wealth of Québec's up and coming entrepreneurs."
The Contest is proud to announce its 2006 grand prize winners and invites you to find out more about the winning projects in the Business Creation and Student Entrepreneurship divisions in each of Québec's 17 regions. The Cahier des lauréats (in French) will be available on the Contest Web site from the morning of Wednesday, June 21, 2006. It gives the names of the finalists and
provincial prizewinners in all categories along with brief descriptions of their projects, and lists the jury members, collaborators, partners and Contest representatives.
